A popular myth among mainstream culture (thanks to fictitious novels like the Davinci Code which assert to be based in some historical fact) is that Jesus became God almost 300 years after his existence.
Was the divinity of Jesus invented at the council of Nicea? Was the doctrine of the Trinity made up at this point? Did Christianity become the state religion and copy the other pagan religions at the council? Was Constantine a pagan who usurped the religion of Jesus and his disciples? Did the State together with the new cult of Trinitarians kill everyone those heretics who disagreed? How long did this last?
